Statement

Jos is an artist based in Queenstown, New Zealand.

By layering generous and unfolding brush-strokes, her abstract artworks thoughtfully explore the intricate intermingling of both conscious and subconscious thoughts and emotions. This process creates a mesmerizing fusion of floating space and dynamic movement, inviting the viewer to discover the subtle, singular moments that are revealed through a vibrant clash of collided strokes and the delicate shrouding of botanical forms.

Drawing inspiration for her artworks from her own rich experiences, the ever-changing scenery, and the captivating natural world surrounding her, she primarily paints with acrylics and oils. Additionally, she loves to inject other exciting mediums, such as transparent inks, foils, metallics, pearlescent and iridescent colours, into her paintings to enhance their depth and complexity. The artistic process of intermixing and layering various mediums unveils its own ever-evolving journey, capturing a vivid layering of sentiment that resonates in every brushstroke.
